Confirmation of an event in which previously discontinued mackerel-agent communications reactivate if the CA certificate installed on the host is outdated and more

Hello, Mackerel Team CRE Igarashi (id:masarasi) here. I'd like to inform you about the recent bug fixes.

Confirmation of an event in which previously discontinued Mackerel agent communications reactivate if the CA certificate installed on the host is outdated

We've confirmed an event in which previously discontinued Mackerel agent communications to servers may reactivate if the CA certificate installed on the host is outdated, resulting in sporadic connectivity monitoring. If you are a paid plan user, these hosts may increase your fees since they count as active.

The hosts affected by this could no longer establish communications after the certificate renewal in May 2020 and August 2020. However, the recent changes to our service have allowed certificates with two types of CAs to run in parallel, leading us to believe that communications are once again successful.

Due to the said event, we are temporarily suspending parallel operations involving certificates with two types of CAs. Parallel operations will resume on May 9, 2020 (Mon).

If you are experiencing this event, please check the Mackerel agent logs, and if you see error logs such as "x509: certificate signed by unknown authority," please update your ca-certificates package or perform a Windows Update, as described on the help page below.

[The agent is outputting the error "x509: certificate signed by unknown authority"] (https://support.mackerel.io/hc/en-us/articles/360043006992-The-agent-is-outputting-the-error-x509-certificate-signed-by-unknown-authority-)

We recommend updating the host's CA certificate regularly since this error, which results in failure to establish SSL/TLS communications, can happen not only with Mackerel but also with any host from which SSL/TLS communications are established.

If you have any other questions, please contact our support team.

Fixed a panic bug occurring when running mackerel-plugin-mysql on some versions of Amazon Aurora MySQL

We have fixed a panic bug that occurs when running mackerel-plugin-mysql on Amazon Aurora MySQL versions 2.10.x and 3.x. Please update the official plugin collection if you experience this problem, as you will not be able to get the metrics properly if you are using Amazon Aurora MySQL version 2.10.x or 3.x.
