Numeric value widgets now display values based on time period by default
The display of numeric value widgets based on time period described in this article is now the default setting, and newly created numeric value widgets will now display values according to the selected time period.
Previously, the granularity of values changed depending on the range of the selected time period and rounded values were displayed when a time period was selected, but we have improved this so that the latest values within the selected time period are now displayed.
If you wish to revert to the way numeric value widgets used to work, you may make changes accordingly in the widget’s settings.
Accessibility and the user interface have been improved
The contrast ratio for the alert display has been enhanced so that the text is easier to read
Previously, the contrast ratio between the text color and background color was low, making it difficult to read the text of the alert display in the alert list, the alert details page, and the host details page. We have improved accessibility by changing the text color and background color to enhance the contrast ratio and make the text easier to read.
The display of the Dashboard page has been improved
In the Dashboard page, “Overview” and the list of custom dashboards have been separated, with starred items in the list of custom dashboards now moved to the top, as in the side menu on the left.
Plugin improvements and specification changes have been made
Specification changes have been made for the check-ntservice plugin for Windows
As announced recently, we have made changes to the specifications of the check-ntservice plugin for Windows. The specification changes are effective as of the following versions.
- mackerel-agent v0.78.0 (included for the Windows version only)
- go-check-plugins v0.45.0
For more information, please refer to our recent announcement and the check-ntservice help page.
The check-tcp plugin can now monitor whether a port is closed
The -C
and --expect-closed
options can now be used in the check-tcp plugin to monitor whether a specified port is closed. These options are available as of the following versions.
- mackerel-agent v0.78.0 (included for the Windows version only)
- go-check-plugins v0.45.0
For more information, please refer to the check-tcp help page.
The check-mackerel-metric plugin is now available in mackerelio-labs
Mackerel has long provided functions for monitoring the interruption of service metrics for the purpose of detecting metrics that have not been posted for a certain period of time, but no equivalent function existed for host metrics.
To address this issue, mackerelio-labs has released “check-mackerel-metric,” a check plugin for monitoring the interruption of host metrics and service metrics.
check-mackerel-metric checks whether metrics have been posted for a period up to the previous day for any host metric or service metric, and it issues an alert if no metric is posted during the time period.
Due to its nature, the check plugin must be run in conjunction with mackerel-agent, but it can be used to monitor a variety of targets, including cloud integration metrics for which interruptions have been difficult to monitor.
The GitHub Organization of mackerelio-labs has released software born out of new initiatives launched by the Mackerel team. (check-mackerel-metric was born out of a CRE initiative!)
Support for Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 has been discontinued
As announced recently, we have discontinued support for Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
