To Customers Using Google Cloud Integration: Notification of Changes to Cloud Monitoring Rate Structure

Thank you very much for using Mackerel.

This is a notice for customers currently using Mackerel's Google Cloud integration.

Mackerel's Google Cloud integration uses Google Cloud's Monitoring API, but as Google Cloud has announced changes to the rate structure for this API on October 2, 2025, we are notifying our customers about the impact on them.

About the Details of the Changes

According to Google Cloud's Pricing page, the rate structure for Monitoring API calls will be amended as follows.

cloud.google.com

  • Until October 1, 2025:
    • Read API calls: $0.01 per 1,000 calls
    • Free Allotment: First 1 million Read API calls per billing account
  • After October 2, 2025:
    • Read API calls: $0.50 per 1 million time series returned
    • Free Allotment: First 1 million time series per billing account

Anticipated Impact

In Mackerel's Google Cloud integration, the API is used to retrieve metrics about Google Cloud resources in a way that falls under the aforementioned "Monitoring API calls" every five minute for each metric retrieved.
(The frequency and mechanism of retrieval are those at the time of this announcement.)

Under the existing rate structure, users are charged for the number of API calls, but under the new rate structure from October 2, 2025 onward, you will be charged for the number of time series returned by execution of the API. In accordance with this change, customers' usage fees for Cloud Monitoring on Google Cloud may be subject to change.

As the specific impact on Google Cloud usage fees varies depending on the customer's actual API usage, we ask that customers please check their own usage.

However, the usage fees for Mackerel itself will not be affected by this change.
